Words on the Julia Allison Hate Parade
Look, the truth, as you all probably know, is that there are a number of Tumblrs that are less incisive about culture, technology, politics, media and other topics of great importance. I would agree with anyone who wants to make a case that Tumblr should be used to educate the blogging community. However, I also feel that there should be little judgement on here. Unless someone has a “Dedication to Eating Babies” Tumblr or a “Lynching People is Fun” Tumblr, I think that there should be more of an “open arms” sort of atmosphere on here. So some people (not just Julia Allison) are flooding your dashboard with photos of restaurants they’re eating at or sweaters they bought or anecdotes about how great they are. We should just accept that that’s what they’re interested in using Tumblr for or, better yet, DON’T FOLLOW THEM! In recent weeks, I’ve noticed myself being more judgmental of my posts and that shouldn’t be. If you feel that someone’s blog is having a negative effect on the community don’t respond with more negativity. Tumblr shouldn’t be a “who’s Tumblr is coolest club.” There shouldn’t be elitism on here. Save it for your personal life. — davidfuternick
I started a tumblr on how much I love Dave Futernick.
